After the Horror
Make it go away
This is the beginning of an old selfie from about 20 years ago. Tom suggested I finish it, since I’ve been so dang stuck.
The Indian Rocks Beach painting delivery didn’t work out. Oh, it reached its destination alright, but in the end, the person who commissioned it wasn’t all there when he commissioned and approved the invoice. Sounded all there to me, but according to his caregiver he’s as broke as I am ... oh well. (Maybe I’ll order a new Maserati!) So I have the painting back. The back up buyer bought another painting as soon as I confirmed that the seascape was sold and being shipped. So now, I have a painting of the Gulf of MEXICO (thank you very much theDonald)! It’s lovely, just not what I needed for Christmas.
That was, as you might surmise, fairly depressing. I haven’t been able to stomach looking at my paints, let alone get to work. No more commissions, ever. Not ever.
At any rate, I like Tom’s suggestion, and I invite you to take a look at this old painting and follow along with the completion of The New Me.
Whattya say?
When I sat down here, I was going to write about my aunt, a quirky wild woman who is one of the most important, highly unknown, collectible painters of the 20th century. She passed away last year and needs to be honored in some way shape or form. I grew up with her art all over my house and own a few of her paintings still. She was my mother’s younger sister in a house full of boys. Her nickname was Babe. She was coddled. And she was brilliant. And that’s all I’m going to say about her now. Next time I’ll show you the paintings I have, and tell you more about her. Like her name.
At any rate, I had to make contact with y’all again. The loony political environment in combination with California burning has given me impetus to get back to work.
So here I am again.
I’ll be in your eyeballs soon.
